To complete the days at the beach, Javea offers a great number of monuments and places of interest if you enjoy cultural visits during your vacation. Possible visits highlight: St. Bartholomew's Church (XVI century), located in the town center; towers-vígias which were used to detect the pirate ships which are very well conserved, the monastery of the "Virgin of the Angels "and the Molinos (XIV). If you decide to rent an apartment in Jávea, you must check if it's at the same time as the festival of Jávea, as it is usually very busy at that time.They are held the last week of April and first of May, in honor of Jesus of Nazareth. Other important local festivals are the Moros and Christians during the third week of July and the Living Chess (National Tourist Interest) on the last Saturday in July. As a finishing touch to the magnificent tourist attractions in Javea is the quality of its cuisine with Mediterranean dishes which are based on exquisite recipes and seafood rice, sausage fame and "les coques" cooked in wood ovens, without forgeting to mention the famous garlic mayonnaise. The Arenal beach is the only beach with sand and the most famous, since its sand is fine and waters are very clean.
